When the Guardian published Mike's obituary they made a number of mistakes - missing out his name in the title line, and screwing up some of the words. The Guardian both emailed and phoned to apologise for any distress the errors may have caused us - which we appreciated. However the truth is we were more amused than upset by the thought that Mike's obituary was in the truly authentic Grauniad tradition, although Mike himself might have missed such a subtlety as he never really got to grips with the written word. However the following correction would surely have had him laughing when it was read out to him:
